Southern England’s chalk and limestone landscapes are home to some of our most iconic and endangered species — but they’re under threat. The Big Chalk Nature Recovery Fund is a new capital grants programme designed to restore and reconnect these vital habitats.
Funded through the Protected Landscapes Partnership and supported by Defra, the fund invites applications from landowners, farmers, conservationists and community groups. Whether you’re planting hedgerows, restoring chalk grasslands, or building ponds, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.
Grants range from £1,000 to £75,000, with fast-track options and support for transformational projects. Applications are open now.
There are no fixed deadlines — apply when you’re ready. But all projects must be completed by 31 March 2026.
