With the Isle of Wight Ploughing Match just around the corner and the reopening of SFI Window 2 on Tuesday 22 September, Wight Rural Hub is bringing together key organisations for what promises to be a valuable and timely farmer update.
We’re delighted that representatives from Defra and the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) have accepted our invitation to attend the Ploughing Match and join AHDB, Catchment Sensitive Farming and Southern Water as part of a dedicated Farmer Advice Hub.
As all of these organisations will be on the Island, we’ve taken the opportunity to host an additional Wight Rural Hub update meeting the evening before the Ploughing Match. This gives local farmers and land managers the chance to hear the latest updates directly from those delivering policy, support and advice, as well as ask questions ahead of the reopening of SFI applications.
We know a Friday evening isn’t our usual slot, and many of you will be busy preparing for the Ploughing Match. However, it feels like too good an opportunity to miss. And because everyone needs feeding while they’re setting up for the weekend, we’ll be providing a complimentary buffet supper after the presentations.
The meeting is also a great opportunity to identify any questions you’d like to explore further. If there’s something you don’t get the chance to ask on the Friday evening, you’ll be able to continue those conversations face-to-face with advisers at the Farmer Advice Hub during the Ploughing Match.
Hear from:
- Defra
- Rural Payments Agency (RPA)
- AHDB
- Catchment Sensitive Farming
- Wight Rural Hub
Topics will include:
- The latest agricultural policy updates
- SFI Window 2 and what it means for Isle of Wight farmers
- Environmental funding opportunities
- Business support and advice available through partner organisations
- Questions and discussion
Whether you’re already involved in environmental schemes, considering an SFI application, or simply want to stay informed about the latest developments affecting farming on the Island, we’d love you to join us.
