Event Details
The government launched a review to improve fairness in the fresh produce supply chain to support fruit and vegetable growers and ensure consumers continue to have access to high quality, British produce.
The horticulture industry is a vital part of the UK’s food supply chain, contributing £3.3 billion to the economy in 2022 and growing more than 300 fruit and vegetable crops domestically.
The sector has faced a number of challenges including increased energy, fuel and labour costs which have raised concerns about the fairness of the supply chain.
This consultation will gather evidence on contractual arrangements, and if there is a need for further legislation to oversee the relationship between producers and purchasers.
It delivers on a key commitment made at the Downing Street Farm to Fork Summit and builds upon work already underway to improve fairness in the pork, dairy and egg supply chains.
Have your say before the review closes on 22 February 2024.
